Summary
In every entertainment universe we all have our personal favorites. Firefly is no different. While I always admired Mal’s ability to remain calm in any situation and Wash could always make me laugh, Kaylee is the character that holds a special place in my heart.
Kaylee always sees the good in everything. She’s very smart, while maintaining a touch of whimsical about her. This cover is that whimsy. It’s fun and lighthearted, just like Kaylee.
The story seemed to jump around a lot. In places it made it difficult to follow. The flashback of Zoe and Wash together was a nice touch that seemed to help put everything back in perspective.
I liked the artist style on the interior pages. It helped emphasize the emotional state that Emma is in. There is one thing that I am having trouble with regarding the artwork. In the story we’re 20 years removed from the events of Firefly. Most of the faces we know and love don’t seem to have aged at all. How can this be?
If you’re able to look past this oversight you have a fun story that is written in a similar manner to the television episodes we all loved. It’s well worth the time to check this one out!

I grew up loving all things geek. I started reading and collecting comics when I was 8. My personal collection has roughly 8,000 books in it. When I’m not doing something geek-related I love spending time with my amazing wife and kids, gaming, and working on cross stitch projects.
