Summary

The story is intended for pre-K to maybe 1st grade.  With that in mind, I think the story has potential, unfortunately I didn’t have enough to review as it relates to the title. As I read the story the first thing that I noticed was the child asking the grandma for candy, and getting it against the wishes of the “dad”, but then the dad in turn asking for candy and being told no, only to be sent on a special mission and have the dad character essentially whine.

As a parent reading this book I find this disconcerting, because it teaches the reader that they just have to ask the grandparents for what they want and get it.  But then having the dad character then ask for the same thing and be denied is not really a great example for impressionable children honestly.

The cover and interior artwork for the age level for which I believe this book series is intended is great.  It shows everything that the children need to see and keeps it simple.  For a child’s book this is important, as it allows them to process the story and possibly learn what the story has to offer.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s I grew up as an eclectic geek, a fact that still holds true today. If I am not adulting then I can readily be found doing something geek-related. When I am not doing something geek-related I enjoy spending time with my wonderful family and friends!
