Summary

Let me start off saying, I have no idea what Scales is going to be about, but the twists and turns in issue 1 have me quite intrigued! I don’t want to give any spoilers, but young Eric has been through some SHIT by the end of this issue.

I, of course, have my guesses where this story is leading, but all issue 1 does is set up why Eric should have every reason in the world to burn the world down. Flesher does a good job of guiding the story and dropping hints without ruining any of the surprises in the last few pages.

The ending did remind me a bit of INK, also by Seer Nova, but perhaps that is intentional since they exist in the same universe (I think). Scales is another Seer Nova title that I’m anxious to see issue 2, it will decide how well this series does, no pressure guys.

the last few pages of Scales is worth all the build-up, but they leave you wanting more information on what the hell is going on. I’ll be getting issue 2 just to see what happens next.
