Book Title: Quick Stops #2

Book Description: In the first issue of Quick Stops we got to see the stars of Chasing Amy, Holden and Alyssa, interacting at a convention years after the events in the movie transpired. Quick Stops #2 turns back the clock to before the events in Clerks. We see Randal Graves and Brodie Bruce attend the memorial of their cousin, Walter. Walter’s death occurred when he accidentally broke his neck under unusual circumstances. Brodie and Randal discuss Walter’s passions, his legacy, and what could have been.

Reader’s Notes:
I have always appreciated when we get additional content that fills in gaps in timelines for any fandom. We got Clerks: The Lost Scene in 1999. After this long I didn’t expect to get anything else.

Fortunately for everyone that is a fan of the franchise, Mr. Smith and company are giver gods. This story fits perfectly with the feel of Clerks. We get more depth on topics that were brought up in the original movie. Randal’s conversation with Gwen pulled me in hook, line, and sinker. I couldn’t help hearing Jeff Anderson’s voice in my head.

Mr. Smith was a geek when he made Clerks. He has remained a geek throughout and through. I enjoyed the homage to Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 on this cover. It was a nice tip of the cap to George Perez.

The interior artwork was perfect. It meshed with the story and helped pull the reader further into the story. Staying with the black and white color scheme of the original movie helps add to the nostalgia.

As a geek on a budget I’m here to tell that if you’re reading Quick Stops #2 and expecting to get the “Graat American Novel”, you’ll be in for disappointment. Now if you’re looking for some laughs and can handle a lot of dick {jokes}, then this book should be right up your alley!

I grew up loving all things geek. I started reading and collecting comics when I was 8. My personal collection has roughly 8,000 books in it. When I’m not doing something geek-related I love spending time with my amazing wife and kids, gaming, and working on cross stitch projects.
