Summary
Niobe: She is Death #1 was published in 2017. It didn’t make it onto my radar until a few months ago when a friend mentioned the title. A bit later I found this book in an online auction and picked it up. The fact that this particular issue had been signed by Mr. Jones was a nice bonus.
I found this story to be very interesting. We get good dialogue and a fair amount of action. I believe there were references to other events that were significant in the Asunda universe. Being a newcomer to this universe I don’t know if these were foreshadowing for later in the story or something that happened in a different issue.
From the get go we can see the quality of the book. The cover artwork is outstanding on a nice card stock paper. The artwork comes just short of looking like a photograph, with every minute detail being thought of. Looking closely one can see the individual barbs in the feathers.
Not to be outdone, the interior artwork came with its “A” game. The combination of crisp, detailed lines and vibrant colors puts this book on an entirely different plane.
This book can be found on eBay for about $10 shipped. As a geek on a budget I’m all for that price. My personal recommendation would be to read the rest of the stories in the series first. Otherwise it’s akin to watching Star Wars and starting when Han is frozen in carbonite. You know there’s a great story leading up to this moment; but you are in the dark with regards to what has transpired.
