About the Book:
The first issue of Morgana Pendragon takes us to the days of King Arthur’s Court. More appropriately, near the end of King Arthur’s Court. King Arthur is dying. He has sent for his sister, Morgana.
This creates emotional turmoil for Morgana. Years ago Arthur literally ordered a witch hunt. He declared war on all Magic users, including Morgana. She led the opposition against Arthur. Now he wants her to support his decision for a successor.
Little does he know, Morgana has a secret that threatens to throw everything about the line of succession into an upheaval that legends are made of.
Reader’s Notes:
I have always been a fan of historical fiction. I like it even more when it covers a subject matter that I am not as familiar with. Peter Taylor’s short run about the London fire, “Wren”, is an example of this.
I knew who King Arthur was before reading this book. Most of us do. He’s one of the most legendary people in history. How many of us know much about King Arthur beyond the tales of Excalibur, Lady Guinevere, Merlin, and the Knights of the Round Table? “Morgana Pendragon” fuels a fire to make the reader want to learn more.
I liked the subtlety of this cover. It doesn’t try to hit people in the face with over the top action or artwork that should be rated PG-13. It’s classy and elegant. It says that this story does not need a gimmick to get people to read it.
The artwork on the interior pages is exquisite. We get incredible lines and facial features that allow the reader to appreciate Morgana’s struggles. Sahadewa’s work with colors makes the characters come to life.
As a geek on a budget I highly recommend “Morgana Pendragon”. This title is a breath of fresh air. We get a fascinating premise, outstanding artwork, and the reader may learn something new by the time it’s all said and done.
Thanks for reading!
Until next time, gang!
