REVIEW: MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATION #4

Book Title: Masters of the Universe: Revelation #4

Book Description: King Randor is deathly ill following his encounter with the Orlax. The situation is so dire that He-Man, Teela, Man At Arms, and the Sorceress have no choice but to go to Skeletor and Evil-Lyn for aid. It’s no surprise that no help is forthcoming. In addition to not giving them the help they’re requesting, the two villains leave Teela with a parting thought that could undo everything she thinks she knows about the royal family. In the aftermath we learn that Skeletor now knows about the crystal orbs from his communication with the Orlax. The crystal orbs are beneath Castle Grayskull and are where the castle’s secrets are kept.

Reviewer’s Notes:
I loved this series. It took speculations that He-Man fans have had for decades and put them in a plausible story. It is the perfect build up to the series we had on Netflix. My only complaint is that the comic book series should have been published in its entirety before the television series started running. It would have helped eliminate confusion on several key scenes.

I would have liked to see more of the classic characters. Ram-Man and Stratos were a big part of my childhood. I understand why they were omitted. The intention was to bring the main characters of the television series into focus. In that regard I tip my cap to a job well done.

Of all the “Masters of the Universe” covers I’ve seen over the years, this one is my favorite. Over the years Teela never received enough credit for being such a great character. Seeing her deemed as an equal by the Sorceress was outstanding.

“Masters of the Universe: Revelation” is a must read for all He-Man fans. We get loads of new content that helps give more depth to characters we already know and love. As a geek on a budget I recommend getting the TPB at this point. It will be cheaper and easier to obtain than hoping to find all four issues at your local comic book store.

I grew up loving all things geek. I started reading and collecting comics when I was 8. My personal collection has roughly 8,000 books in it. When I’m not doing something geek-related I love spending time with my amazing wife and kids, gaming, and working on cross stitch projects.
