REVIEW: Masks of the Orisha Chapter 3

Book Title: Masks of the Orisha Chapter 3

Book Description: This chapter of the story continues where the previous one ended. With Gado and Towa fighting the person that attacked Lord Timbah. Giving it all they have got, they just can’t seem to get the upper hand on their adversary. As they continue pulling out every trick in their book, a simple flick of the hand by their adversary and the flashiest power that Gado has, is rendered useless. As the enemy comes in with a bladed weapon to attack Gado, Towa steps in and the swing hits Towa across the face and slicing through the mask, revealing the Ashe power tattoo’s under his eyes. The enemy see’s the markings and begins to mention someone called the “ The Son of Koteh” and begins to act scared, at this point multiple portals open up and a battalion of Jorgen begin filling the area. Only to be taken out by the Proctor Biwa, who declares the exam over and tells Towa and Gado to head back to the gate, immediately.

The cover art continues to empress, only this time, it shows a panel of the characters involved in this chapter all in fighting poses. Like the previous books, it is pleasing to the eye. I also feel this particular cover, I think would make a great poster to hang on the wall as art!

The interior art continues with the stunning detail, style and skill that has appeared previously. As well as continuing to doing an excellent job at conveying what the characters are going through as Gado and Towa fight the big baddie in this chapter. All the while continuing to be pleasing to the eye while following the story!

The first two chapters Gado and Towa seemed to be trying to one up each other, showing off their abilities and vying for recognition if not, just attention.  In this chapter their lives are literally on the line.  In this chapter the teamwork is evident, showing that their skill, is not something to be second guessed.

The power and ability that Gado and Towa have may still need room to grow, but that’s part of taking this exam in the first place.  To improve themselves and learn how to strengthen their power, and this book clearly shows just how far that they have gone, and where they are going.

Overall this story continues to make the reader invest in the characters. While the artwork adds to the excitement of the story!  I am enjoying each page as I read it and I have a desire to read more, this original story is definitely one to follow!
