REVIEW: Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal

Book Title: Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal

Book Description: This is the tale of Marjorie Finnegan. She’s a temporal thief. From stealing jewels from the tomb of the Pharaoh Ramses shortly after his burial to pulling off a heist on the 95th Reich, she’s your girl. From time to time things get messy and people die. To avoid a paradox Marjorie uses the K-2001 Re-Aligner. It fixes time by putting in a new reality. In short it replaces victims in history itself. When Karper the Ugly gets his nose punched into his brain, the alternative fate becomes he was killed by a crocodile. Marjorie has been having a great run. Something tells me that is about to change for her. Majorie’s ex and the Temporal Police are both hot on her trail. Can either of them pin her down before she can make another jump?

Summary

I bought Marjorie Finnegan #1 because Garth Ennis wrote it. I LOVED Sara as well as Battlefields: The Night Witches. I was eager to read some of his work from a different genre.

The writing doesn’t disappoint. There’s action, adventure, and some great one-liners! I couldn’t stop laughing, especially at the approach of the Vikings. Some of the “alternative fates” were rather comical as well. Mr. Ennis has a bit of a twisted side. I like it!

The interior artwork was a throwback to what we saw a lot of from comics in the silver and copper age. I found it to be a nice touch for a book about time travel.

As a geek on a budget I think this one is worth the price of admission. With that being said; I can’t afford to add another seven books to my pull list to complete the run. As a result, I will be eagerly anticipating the arrival of the TPB of Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal.

I grew up loving all things geek. I started reading and collecting comics when I was 8. My personal collection has roughly 8,000 books in it. When I’m not doing something geek-related I love spending time with my amazing wife and kids, gaming, and working on cross stitch projects.
