About the Book:
George and Harold are back at it. After deciding Christmas is a little too humdrum, the boys travel back in time to turn Christmas into “Blissmas”. The changes they’ve made caused some unexpected changes. Now it’s up to George, Harold, and Captain Underpants to set things right before it’s too late.
I’ve always been a fan of Captain Underpants. As a parent of a young boy that doesn’t particularly enjoy reading, this franchise has been a godsend. The writing always hits the target audience square in the funny bone and keeps the jokes coming. From getting a story told wonderfully from the perspective of two preadolescent boys to bathroom and booger jokes to terrific plays on words, it’s easy for a reader to fall into George and Harold’s world.
Compared to its contemporaries, the artwork won’t necessarily blow your hair back. I’m okay with that. The story is supposed to look like it was drawn by an elementary school student. It allows the story to mesh perfectly with the artwork.
As a geek on a budget I believe we can all use a little Blissmas cheer. Captain Underpants: The Xtreme Xploits of the Xplosive Xmas will bring you that. You get laughs, an entertaining story, and a reminder of what the holidays are all about.
