INTERVIEW: Jason Pharo

Thank you so much for agreeing to an interview! Tell everyone about who you are and your background?

Thanks for having me! My name is Jason Pharo and I am the Creator, writer , and artist of The Convictor series. I also am the head if the Pharos Creative Studios imprint as well as Editor in Chief of the Savage Sand Box. I am a self taught artist whose character based universe spans almost 40 years.

Tell us about your project!

I am currently working on the third book in my Convictor saga, titled; The Convictor: Unhinged.

What sparked your journey as a creator?

For me it was coming back to art and to a character I created in 1984 after 20 plus years of stepping away from last using a pencil for art. It was the idea of keeping a promise to my 12 year old younger self of making a true The Convictor comic.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received from a fellow creator?

After my first Kickstarter successfully funded in 90 minutes I got a call from someone I respected called me and congratulated me on my success then he gave me advice that I still to this day hold onto as gospel. He told me people rallied behind my project because they love me, now to keep them interested I have to make them love my product. Solid advice I adhere to daily.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give a new creator?

Be passionate about your product. If you want someone to care about your product, you have to care about your product. You have to make others want to see your succeed and for them to invest in your product. Passion is palpable, and others can pick up om and see that.

Who else in the indie comic industry should people be following?

I’d be remiss if I didn’t say to follow my peers in the Savage Sand Box, but I can most certainly say as well, Wingless Comics , Konkret Comics , and anything coming out of Red Sea Comics has my interest. There are so many more.
