The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards Honors IDW Publishing with 12 Nominations in 2022

IDW has been recognized by the committee of the 2022 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards with 12 nominations this year. Ballad for Sophie by Filipe Melo and Juan Cavia (Top Shelf Productions) received an incredible four nominations. The prestigious award ceremony honors exemplary work from the previous year in comics and graphic novel publishing.

“We’re proud to be the publishing home for so many talented creators, and it’s wonderful to see this recognition from the Eisner committee across our list,” says publisher Nachie Marsham. “It’s a privilege to work with creators whose vision, skill, and hard work have earned a well-deserved place on this year’s list, and we wish them the very best come July 22nd!”

IDW’s 2022 Eisner nominees include:

  • Best Archival Collection/Project—Comic Books: EC Covers Artist’s Edition, edited by Scott Dunbier (IDW)
  • Best Archival Collection/Project—Comic Books: Steranko Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Artisan Edition, edited by Scott Dunbier (IDW)
  • Best Graphic Album—New: Ballad for Sophie, by Filipe Melo and Juan Cavia, translation by Gabriela Soares (Top Shelf)
  • Best Graphic Album—Reprint: Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons and Dragons Deluxe Edition, by Patrick Rothfuss, Jim Zub, and Troy Little (Oni/IDW)
  • Best Graphic Album—Reprint: Locke & Key: Keyhouse Compendium, by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez (IDW)
  • Best Graphic Memoir: Parenthesis, by Élodie Durand, translation by Edward Gauvin (Top Shelf)
  • Best Painter/Multimedia Artist: Juan Cavia, Ballad for Sophie (Top Shelf)
  • Best Publication for Early Readers: Chibi Usagi: Attack of the Heebie Chibis, by Julie and Stan Sakai (IDW)
  • Best Publication for Kids: The Science of Surfing: A Surfside Girls Guide to the Ocean, by Kim Dwinell (Top Shelf)
  • Best U.S. Edition of International Material: Ballad for Sophie, by Filipe Melo and Juan Cavia, translation by Gabriela Soares (Top Shelf)
  • Best U.S. Edition of International Material: The Shadow of a Man, by Benoît Peeters and François Schuiten, translation by Stephen D. Smith (IDW)
  • Best Writer: Filipe Melo, Ballad for Sophie (Top Shelf)
