About the Book:

The High Council of Fairyland is assembling for the first time with its new cabinet members in place. They are having a meeting with King Cloudeus. They give him the state of affairs in Fairyland and inform him that Gertrude is back. King Cloudeus is not pleased with this news and devises a plan to minimize the damage Gertrude can cause.

Reader’s Notes:

Skottie Young had a hit on his hands with the first volume of I Hate Fairyland. It was whimsical, fun, and different from anything else on the rack in comic book stores across the land.

It is difficult to catch lightning in a bottle twice. With the sophomore series of I Hate Fairyland Mr. Young is coming close to pulling it off. We’re still getting great jokes and outrageous reactions from Gertie that we only wish we could have in some scenarios.

I like this cover. We get to see some familiar faces from Fairyland. Moreover, we get to see how aggravated Gertrude is about being trapped with all of the said familiar faces. The prospect of having to deal with them leaves her less than enthusiastic about her situation.

I continue to be a fan of just how well the artwork on the interior pages dovetails with the story. It allows the reader to submerge themselves into this world where anything is possible. It’s a big part of what drew me into the series in the first place.

As a geek on a budget I highly recommend I Hate Fairyland #6. This is a series that continues to make me laugh as Gertie goes from adventure to FLUFFIN’ adventure in her quest to return home.
