About the Book:

In Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs #2, we get an economics lesson and a history lesson all rolled into one. We see how much of the modern wealth in the world was acquired. We also learn the true meaning of “pursuit of happiness”.

Reader’s Notes:

Mr. Russell and Mr. Pugh continue to hit the nail on the head with Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs. The only difference between the stock market and races at the dog track is the stigma that comes with gambling on races. Dogs or companies, you’re trusting that your money will grow based on circumstances that are completely beyond your control.

Pundit la will say that activity in the world can manipulate the stock market. If “X” happens, then stocks in “y” areas will take off or plummet. It sounds reasonable. Then you see things that fly in the face of this logic.

I find it funny that everything in the world the team has created is built around Business Dog. It’s a great metaphor for the world we live in. There are a handful of individuals that have a net worth of more than some small countries. If their ability to access their funds was compromised chaos would ensue, much like how things have played out on Freedom Island.

I appreciate how symbolic this cover is. The majority of people are in a position where they don’t have more than a month’s salary in savings. Disaster is an accident away. We’re all hoping to get a handout from Business Dog to help create more of a buffer.

In the second installment of Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs we don’t get the hilarious panels of billionaires and their rockets. We do get solid artwork that pulls the reader deeper into the story. I liked the panels of the incursion team.

Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs continues to be a warning of things to come if America continues its greedy tendencies. This geek on a budget believes that this series, as well as its prequel are a must read to prepare for the financial meltdown that we seem to be on a collision course with.

I grew up loving all things geek. I started reading and collecting comics when I was 8. My personal collection has roughly 8,000 books in it. When I’m not doing something geek-related I love spending time with my amazing wife and kids, gaming, and working on cross stitch projects.
