About the Book:

Choon-He Chung is one of the top scientists in the world. She and her husband, Jin-Sung, were researching post-human possibilities. In other words, super powers. They had philosophical differences. He wanted to use their research to make a fortune selling it to the highest bidder. She wanted the world to be a better place.

When their research stalled, he stole their work and spread lies that would have left her rotting in a Korean prison for the rest of her life. In prison Choon-He had a breakthrough that allowed her to finish the work and gain powers herself. Now she’s getting the ultimate revenge against her ex: she’s giving powers to the most deserving people in the world.

Reader’s Notes:

My friend, Lord Trekker, got me a stack of comics for my birthday this year. He does his best to find titles I’m not familiar with that blow my hair back. Ambassadors #1 certainly makes that list.

Even though it made it to a third printing, this title never made it onto my radar. I’m late to another party; but this party is worth attending!

Ambassadors #1 represents everything we need in the world right now. We don’t need billionaires sending themselves into space or to the depths of the ocean just to say they did it. We need people that want to make a change for the greater good. We need people that will make these changes without any consideration being given as to how they will gain from it.

I am very fond of this cover.  The words on it remove all doubt of what the story’s premise is. With this premise being so intriguing, it instantly captures the imagination. We need more of this and less comic book clickbait.

The artwork on the interior pages is the perfect complement to this story. It gives Choon-He a  soft, gentle look making her seem every bit the kind humanitarian that wants to save the world. Then we see her rage as she demonstrates her ability to commute her prison sentence. Very impressive.

As a geek on a budget I would highly recommend Ambassadors #1. We get great artwork, a compelling story, and a thought provoking question: In a world of billions, how does one stand out enough to be chosen as one of six to save the world?
