REVIEW: Cypher Team i01

Book Title: Cypher Team i01
Book Description: When a Xenith hate group attacks unsuspecting individuals as they stand outside a TEMPLE site waiting to register themselves, and powers, on the day of The Annual Xenith Power Registration Summit; the dormant and efficiently lethal, anti-terrorism unit, known as Cypher Team, is brought out of decommissioning to stop the situation. However, their recommission wasn't only for the attacking group but also, to engage a group that is waiting in the shadows. A villainous group that sees only their own, who aren't against them, as equals.

Summary
Cypher Team i01 throws you right into the action, which both emulates an action movie and disorients the reader all st the same time. There’s a lot going on in this book, and at times, it can be hard to keep track of it all.
Jackson does a good job of keeping us informed of all the characters through narration and editors notes. The characters are all well developed and the dialogue is fun, with some characters having unique accents. The narration at the beginning is informative, but I’m left wondering who is narrating and why so much monologue was needed.
Marvida’s art is solid and laid out well! The first two pages feature art of space while the narrator is speaking. Parts of these image use lower resolution space images, so they appear slightly muddy and pixelated, but the remainder of the book is crystal clear! Marvida’s updated cover for this new edition is very nice and helps draw you right into the action!
Cypher Team i01 is a great beginning and now that the stage is set I’m sure i02 will bring it home. Jackson is a master at laying out the long play for his stories, with rich world building and complex backstories, they evolve and become better with each issue. I can’t wait to read the next issue and follow the battle between Xeniths and Humans.
